Co-hosted by Lisa Mulrooney, Poet Laureate, Stony Plain Alberta, and Len Gierach, Board Member, Edmonton Interfaith Centre, Spruce Grove Alberta
Our special guest poets each be read from their own work as well as introducing audience members to other poetry that inspires them. Discussion and questions about the poetry followed their readings.
A poetry sharing circle (or open mic) followed, where attendees were invited to share a single poem that they have written or that has been written by someone else but proved to be a source of personal inspiration.
This special poetry event was a part of World Interfaith Harmony Week, which has been recognized and celebrated around the globe since it was first adopted by the UN a decade ago. The goals of World Interfaith Harmony Week are to create a culture of peace, tolerance, cooperation and mutual understanding between people of all religions, faiths and beliefs, and to work toward the elimination of all forms of intolerance and discrimination.
