World Interfaith Harmony Week is organized in Edmonton by the Edmonton Interfaith Centre for Education and Action, a charitable organization that develops and sponsors many diverse programs as we work to create a more harmonious and respectful community.
The World Interfaith Harmony Week was first proposed at the UN General Assembly on September 23, 2010 by H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan. Just under a month later, on October 20, 2010, it was unanimously adopted by the UN. Since then, the first week of February is observed as a World Interfaith Harmony Week.
Here in Edmonton, we have some exciting events planned to make the week, including a film festival, poetry evening, and concert.
The Town of Stony Plain has passed a resolution supporting World Interfaith Harmony Week. Read it here.
